Josma Agro-Industries Limited, established in 2000 and registered in 2004, has played a pivotal role in enhancing the availability of improved and disease-resistant cassava varieties in Ghana. Founded and managed by Mrs. Janet Gyimah-Kessie, a visionary entrepreneur dedicated to agricultural development, the company has grown from a modest cassava farm under the President’s Special Initiative on Cassava into a leading producer and processor of cassava-based products.
Mrs. Gyimah-Kessie, who is deeply involved in the day-to-day operations of the company, has steered Josma Agro-Industries to become a significant player in the agricultural sector. The company specializes in processing cassava into Gari, Konkonte, and High-Quality Cassava Flour, offering essential products that meet both local and international demand.
In addition to the above, Josma Agro-Industries Limited is committed to multiplying and disseminating improved cassava planting materials to smallholder farmers. This initiative has greatly contributed to increasing the production of disease free cassava, thereby supporting the livelihoods of farmers within and beyond the company’s catchment areas.
Over the years, Josma Agro-Industries has earned national recognition for its contributions to the agricultural sector. The company was honored with the National Best Cassava Farmer award in 2009 and the National Best Small Scale Food Processor award in 2016, highlighting its excellence in both farming and food processing.
The company’s processing facility was recognized as a Good Practice Centre (GPC) by the Roots and Tuber Improvement and Marketing Programme (RTIMP)th, further solidifying its reputation as a leader in the cassava industry. Josma Agro-Industries continues to innovate and expand, ensuring the sustainability and growth of the cassava value chain in Ghana.
